Want to play here?
We're a little room that takes music seriously, and we love putting on new people. If you're a musician, a promoter or a DJ with something to put on, here's how it works.
For bands and promoters
- Forty in the basement, and it's a lovely room when it's full
- In-house sound engineering, included
- We handle the ticketing, so you're not chasing money on the door
- Professional audio and video recording if you want it, at extra cost
What a gig pays
- Ticket money splits 50/50 between you and us
- We take a minimum of £150. If the door doesn't reach it, the difference is still owed
- Sound engineering is included in that
- Forty in the room. At a £10 ticket, a sold-out night is about £200 each
- You set the ticket price, higher or lower, as long as the £150 is covered
- A free event is fine too. The £150 is then yours to cover
Before you pitch
One honest thing: the room is small and there's a limit on how loud it goes. If your music is loud, this probably isn't the room for it, and it's better to know now than at soundcheck.
For DJs
Fridays are our DJ nights, programmed in advance, and most of them are residencies. The way in is El Charquito, Thursdays + Sundays: the decks are open at the jam, and you don't need a following to ask for a slot.
There's no fee for a DJ set, but there is this: we film you on a 360 camera and the footage is yours to keep, and drinks and empanadas are on us!
Access
There's a step up into the venue from the street, and the basement is reached by a flight of stairs. There's no step-free access to any part of the venue. If you'd like to talk through access before booking, please get in touch.
Pitch us something!
Send us links to your music, that's what matters most.
